1. 2 cups basmati rice

3. 1 teaspoon cumin

How To Make Mint Chutney:
1. Wash the Basmati rice with cold water 2 to 3 times until the rice is completely clean, then soak the rice in water for 15-20 minutes, drain the water and keep the rice in a bowl.
2. Take a medium sized vessel, heat 1/2 teaspoon ghee or oil in it, keep the gas on medium flame.
3. After adding ghee, add cumin seed and bay leaf (if you adding) fry till it turns golden and the aroma comes out.
4. Now add the rice which we have soaked, mix the rice slowly in ghee or cumin seeds.
5. Add 4 cups of water and add salt as per taste.
6. Now increase the flame of the gas until the water starts boiling, but after boiling, reduce the flame of the gas and cook for 15-20 minutes until the rice absorbs the water.
7. Remove the vessel from the flame and keep it covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and then garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
8. Serve Jeera Rice hot with your favorite curry, dal or raita with any Indian dish.

Rinse 2 cup basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear.

Soak the washed rice in water for about 10-20 minutes. After getting wet, drain the water.

Pour 4 cups of water into a medium sized pot and bring to a boil.

Add soaked and drained rice to boiling water.

Add a pinch of salt and let the rice cook on medium flame.

Heat 1 tablespoon ghee or oil in a large pan or pot on medium flame. Add 1 teaspoon cumin

Add half cooked rice to the pan along with the tadka.

Mix the rice gently with the tadka, ensuring that the rice grains are well coated with the cumin seeds and spices.

Lower the flame, cover the pan with a lid and let the rice steam for 10 minutes until it is completely cooked.

When the rice is completely cooked and swollen, remove it from the flame.

Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

If you are fond of spicy food then you can make it spicy by adding green chilli or red chilli powder to the rice.
