First of all, wash 1 glass of Basmati rice in cold water until the water becomes clear. Then soak the rice for 20 to 30 minutes.
After this, take a pressure cooker and heat 1 tablespoon oil or ghee in it.
when the oil becomes hot, 1 teaspoon cumin, 2 to 3 whole cloves (optional), 1 black cardamom pod (optional).
Now fry all these spices on medium flame until a good aroma starts coming.
Then add 1 thinly chopped onion in it. Fry the onion until it turns light brown.
Now add half a bowl of fresh green peas in it. Fry the peas and onion lightly for a minute.
Now add basmati rice to it and stir gently. Then add 2 glasses of water in the cooker.
Put salt in saab. Mix well and taste whether the water slightly salty or if salt is required add as per your taste or seal the container and cook as per your cooker.
Allow the pressure cooker to cool down on its own for several minutes before opening the lid. Open the lid only when all the pressure in the cooker released naturally.
Use a fork to gently fluff the rice before serving hot. Garnish with some coriander sprigs or mint leaves.
